2018 SCBT-MR Abstract Program

Deadline has Passed. Invitations to present will be sent Late May/Early June

Abstract submission is available to the following:

• Medical Students

 

• Residents

 

• Those in fellowship training

 

• Post-doctoral fellows

• Junior Faculty (candidate may not be more than seven years beyond residency or fellowship training)

 

Presenters of all invited abstracts who accept an offer to present at the meeting will be sent a link to register at a discounted rate. Oral abstracts, power posters, and educational posters will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee for awards consideration, taking into account the scores provided by SCBT-MR fellows.

 


Each abstract will be eligible for one of the
following awards:
Resoundant Innovation Award  • The Hounsfield Award  • The Lauterbur Award  • The Moncada Award • Magna Cum Laude Power Poster Awards • Cum Laude Poster Award

Guidelines

• The first author/presenting author of accepted abstracts MUST be a SCBT-MR Member.

• Membership Fees for In-Training Members are waived. In-Training Members are residents & fellows in a recognized training programs.

• Abstracts must be submitted online through the abstract submission program. No fax copies, disk, or e-mail submissions will be accepted.

• Scientific abstracts are to be constructed according to the guidelines set in the abstract submission system. Abstracts will be selected for presentation on the basis of scientific merit. Include additional information describing the importance of the presented work and relationship to previously presented or published material. Scientific abstracts can be accepted for oral presentation, power poster presentation (i.e., a 2-minute oral synopsis) or traditional hardcopy poster presentation.

• Abstracts must be received by April 24th at 11:59 pm Eastern Daylight Savings Time.  The system will close after that time and no further edits will be possible.

• To have a broader representation of institutions at the Scientific Session, we have limited the maximum number of abstracts that may be presented by a single institution at the scientific session. However, there is no restriction on the number of abstracts that may be submitted.

• Changes to selected abstracts; including abstract titles, abstract text, as well as additions or deletions of author names, will not be permitted after author's confirmation of invitation. 

• Submission of an abstract constitutes a commitment by the first author to present their work if the abstract is accepted.

• Presenters are responsible for their travel, hotel, and miscellaneous expenses. All presenters must be registered to attend the meeting. In-Training members selected as power/hardcopy posters or oral presenters will receive 50% off the In-Training meeting registration fee. Active Members selected as power/hardcopy posters or oral presenters will receive 20% off the active member meeting registration fee.

• All invited abstract presenters must register to attend the meeting by June 5th, 2017 11:59 pm Eastern Daylight Savings Time. 

• Due to the limited amount of time slots available at the Scientific Session, those who are not selected for oral presentation may be invited to present their work in as a hardcopy poster or as an oral power poster (see below). Authors will be asked to indicate their preference when completing the abstract submission form - Oral only, Oral or Poster, or Poster only.

• The presentation must be balanced and contain no commercial promotional content.

• All submissions must be HIPAA-compliant. Patient confidentiality must be protected. No names, hospital ID numbers or any other identifying information can appear in the presentation.

Abstract Categories


Oral Presentations 
One author of the selected abstract will present at an assigned date/time in a moderated meeting room setting. Formal presentations are limited to six minutes followed by two minutes for discussion. A power-point presentation in support of the oral presentation is required and must be uploaded to the conference computer (more information will follow at time of acceptance).

Educational and Scientific Exhibits (Posters)
Posters may only be presented in backboard panel (hard-copy poster) format.  The maximum individual poster size to display is 3.5ft x 3.5ft. Posters can be secured by pins or Velcro. Posters must be up by 10:00am Sunday, September 18. If selected for display, one presenting author must be in front their poster to present to meeting attendees and members of the research committee on Tuesday, September 20 at the specified time (more information will follow at time of acceptance).

Power Posters: A select number of posters will be chosen for Power Poster presentations. Presenters will be assigned a time in a moderated room setting for a two-minute oral PowerPoint presentation of their work. Following their oral presentation, Power Poster presenters will be expected to move back to the location of the traditional poster (hardcopy format) to answer potential questions about their work from the meeting attendees. In other words, selection as a Power Poster necessitates both a hardcopy poster and a 2-minute oral power-point presentation. The two minute Power Poster presentations should highlight the purpose and main result of the work to allow the audience to select those posters they may want to learn more about. It is not intended to provide a comprehensive review of the project (More information will follow at time of acceptance).

Research Awards

Hounsfield Award – Best  CT oral presentation.
Lauterbur Award – Best MR oral presentation.
Resoundant Innovation Award – Most innovative oral presentation not receiving the Hounsfield or Lauterbur; must relate to tech or contrast.
Young Investigator Award – Best oral presentation by a medical student, resident, or fellow, not receiving the Hounsfield or Lauterbur.
Moncada Award – Best oral presentation for a contrast media-related topic, not receiving the Hounsfield or Lauterbur.
Magna Cum Laude Poster Award – Top two power posters.
Cum Laude Poster Award – Top three traditional posters.

Tips On Completing Your Submission

1. When first entering the Abstract Site, click on " Don't have an Account?" to build your profile

2. The abstract site, is not part of SCBT-MR.org. Do not use the login option on this website when trying to log on to the abstract site

3. The submitter does not have to be the presenting author. Though an abstract can not be complete without a assigning and creating a presenting author profile. 
Note: If your abstract is chosen, the presenting author and title of your case can not be changed once you confirm acceptance of your presentation

4The contact information provided on the submission site  for the presenting author  will be the primary contact person.

5. In the Abstract submission site, 100 words will be available to describe the purpose, methods used, results and discussion of the abstract.

RSNA Agreement

SCBT-MR recognizes there may be concerns about the eligibility to submit a scientific abstract to both the SCBT-MR and to the RSNA for inclusion in both programs. RSNA has confirmed that presenting at the SCBT-MR Annual Course Members Only Scientific Session (a closed meeting) does not preclude individuals from submitting the same abstract for consideration for presentation at RSNA. You must disclose this information when you submit your abstract to RSNA, but it will not influence the RSNA selection process.

MEMBERSHIP

PLEASE NOTE: The first author/presenting author of accepted abstracts, MUST be a SCBT-MR Member.

Free membership for In-Training Members. In-Training Members are students, residents, fellows, graduate candidates, and other para-professionals enrolled in a recognized training program.

Those who complete a Membership Application at time of abstract submission will be considered members, and therefore eligible to submit abstracts.
